Baw Baw Shire’s corporate and community services directorship finally has a new permanent face.

Mark Dupe, who has held senior roles at the National Heart Foundation, Telstra, Bayside City Council, and Knox City Council, has been chosen to take on the position former director Liana Thompson left one year ago.

His appointment comes just a week after the announcement community assets director Phil Cantillon will leave Baw Baw early next month, and only a month after new CEO Alison Leighton took her position.

Mr Dupe will oversee Baw Baw’s family and children’s services, aged and disability support services, and internal finance and organisational teams.

“Mark is a senior executive with 30 years of experience at senior levels in the private, local government and not for profit sectors. Mark has worked both domestically and internationally throughout his career,” Ms Leighton said in a media release.

“He holds a Bachelor of Economics, an MBA, and post graduate IT qualifications. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a CPA.

“A key focus for me was ensuring that the successful candidate was of high calibre, an experienced senior leader and a good fit for a strong, positive and innovative culture.”

Ms Leighton also thanked Malcolm Lewis, who has served as acting director following Ms Thompson’s resignation.
