Six Baw Baw Shire sporting clubs will receive funding for new uniforms under the Victorian Government’s Sporting Uniform Grants Program.

The program offers grants of up to $1000 to eligible clubs, with 275 clubs around the state to receive the money.

The funding is intended to increase participation in sporting activities and to support grassroots sport and recreation clubs.

The six clubs who will receive grants are the

  • Warragul Industrial Colts Junior Football Club,
  •  Ellinbank and District Netball Association,
  •  Gippsland Umpires Association,
  •  Gladiators Basketball Club,
  •  Rawson Cricket Club
  •  West Gippsland Hockey Association.

The funding can be used toward uniforms, but cannot be used to fund already purchased clothes, shoes, or protective equipment such as mouth and shin guards.

Funding preference was given to clubs which would increase participation in un-athletic communities, would give uniforms to competitors and active officials over non-playing officials, and who could provide an itemised quote for required uniforms.

The next round of funding will open on the 25th of January.
