Regeneration burns have been lit north of Noojee and around Aberfeldy, Erica, Powelltown, Neerim South, Willow Grove, Warragul and the Latrobe Valley.

Motorists have been advised that travel by road may be hazardous due to low visibility from smoke and signs may be in place to slow traffic in some areas.

The DSE said access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites in areas close to or in burn areas may be restricted.

The department explained that more planned burns were taking place to reduce bushfire risk.
