VicRoads approved the change for the unsealed road after a traffic survey found most users of the road only travelled at 75km/h.
Shillinglaw Road runs between Settlement Road and Gardner And Holman Road south of the railway line and marks the northern boundary of Bellbird Park.
Baw Baw mayor Debbie Brown said in a media release the change had been made in response to community concerns.
“Recent residential developments surrounding Shillinglaw Road have increased the amount of traffic, with the traffic survey recording an average of 141 vehicles travelling through each day,” she said.

“The survey also took into account the increased traffic around the Drouin Pony Club on weekends and the number of trucks, including milk tankers, which went through on a daily basis to neighbouring farms.
“The reduced speed limit is more realistic and certainly safer, given that it’s an unsealed and narrow road, which was traditionally intended to be for local traffic only.”
80 ks on a dirt road is still far too fast. After having lived on that road for many years the constant accidents that we witnessed was incredible.
It’s a limit not a target remember that.
All back dirt roads should be 80klms.
people travel in their cars trucks etc. far to fast.
