A police spokesperson said four vehicles were targeted on Wednesday last week, with two in Jane Court having windows smashed and handbags, wallets and cash stolen.

One Jane Court resident told police they saw a “suspicious” gold-coloured VX or VT Commodore sedan around the area the cars were broken into at around 1am.

A car in Palm Square had a laptop stolen after a window was smashed and $15 cash was stolen from another car in Isabella Court.

Thefts in Balmoral Drive and Maxim Court were reported to police over the weekend but both took place over a week ago with owners only noticing more recently.

The Warragul Citizen reported a number of thefts from unlocked cars in Park Street and elsewhere in Drouin earlier this month.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles have been common in Baw Baw for some months: in November last year a car parked in a Palm Square garage was accessed after a roller door was pushed up and in Church Street a garage remote was taken from an unlocked vehicle and used in a theft.

At the time police told The Warragul Citizen there had been a rise in thefts from unlocked vehicles across Baw Baw, especially in Drouin, Warragul and Neerim South.

A number of youths were charged but thefts continued.

Anyone with information about the thefts should contact the Baw Baw Crime Investigation Unit on 5622 7111, or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
