Warragul and Trafalgar VCE students among state's top achievers

[Rolling coverage] VCE RESULTS released yesterday show at least five students enrolled at Warragul and Trafalgar schools have achieved an ATAR score of 99 or above.

Of schools which have released results to the media, Baw Baw’s top VCE achiever is St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School student Stephanie McKelvie, Yarragon, who achieved a score of 99.9.

Ms McKelvie received perfect scores in Literature and Psychology and plans to study medicine at either Melbourne or Monash University.

Baw Baw’s second highest ATAR was achieved by Trafalgar High School Dux Megan Low, who scored 99.75.

Three other St Paul’s students scored over 99.

Elsewhere in Baw Baw, 31 per cent of Drouin Secondary School students received an ATAR score of 70 or above.

Individual results for Drouin Secondary School students will be released Wednesday night.

Warragul – St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School

Top students: 
  • Stephanie McKelvie, Yarragon, 99.9. (Dux.)
  • Aaron Kovacs, Traralgon, 99.55.
  • Laura Remyn, Warragul, 99.35.
  • Duncan Hamilton, Warragul, 99.1.

Totals:

  • Mean ATAR score: 75.
  • ATAR scores over 90: 23 per cent of students.

Principal Lisa Moloney told The Warragul Citizen three students of teacher Natalie Bellis achieved perfect study scores this year: two in English, one in Literature.


Warragul – Warragul Regional College

Drouin – Drouin Secondary College

Top Students:
  • Individual study scores will be made public in a ceremony on Wednesday night.

Totals:

  • Mean ATAR score: 29.
  • ATAR scores over 70: 31 per cent.
  • Pass rate: 98 per cent in both VCE and VCAL.

Drouin – Chairo Christian School

Principal Rob Bray declined to disclose any information on Chairo’s results for privacy reasons.”The (school) board has an understanding of where I share information,” Mr Bray said.

Trafalgar – Trafalgar High School

Top Students:

  • Megan Low, 99.75. (Dux.)

Totals:

  • ATAR scores over 80: 25 per cent.

Principal Jane Haustorfer told The Warragul Citizen the school’s results are improving.

“We’re really pleased about our mid-range students, with a shift in students receiving between a 60 and 80 score… and students under 60 shifting up,” Ms Haustorfer said.


Neerim South – Neerim District Secondary College

A spokesperson for Neerim District Secondary College said the school “generally doesn’t” release ATAR information.
