Warragul Police call for caution on New Year’s Day

WARRAGUL Police have asked motorists to exercise caution when driving on New Year’s Day.

Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Height told The Warragul Citizen drivers can be over the limit on New Year’s Day without realising.

“We urge all motorists to take it easy on the roads and to have a safe and happy new year,” Sgt Height said.

“Remember not to drive on New Year’s Day if you think you’re still over 0.05, because that’s where people come unstuck.”

Ambulance Victoria Operations Manager Paul Homan said in a media release revellers should look after themselves and their friends.

“We want people to go and have a good time, but you need to look after yourself and your mates,” Mr Homan said.

“Stay away from drugs and if you are drinking alcohol, have some water between drinks.”

The Victorian Government has also urged pet owners to ensure their pets are safe during firework displays.
