THE most prominent product of Neerim South’s Regional Development Victoria Small Towns Transformations grant has been lifted into place at the town’s main entrance.
Workers lifted the enormous Neerim Bower artwork into place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

What on earth are they? Blue shards in a green environment. They are totally out of place.
That art grant should have gone into arts programs for all the schools in the our district not some ridiculous blue sticks coming out of the ground
Great work and most appropriate for the district.
For those who dont know the male Satin Bower bird builds a bower out of sticks it faces n.s. and has two sides e.w. to attract a mate,he then decorates it with blue items like blue flowers or even pen tops. Once he has suceeded the pair go off and build a nest and hopefully produce young.

We have always enjoyed driving into Neerim South. It is a pretty town with a natural honesty. It’s still the same town but now it has a pile of blue steel at its entrance. Why did they do it?
A great concept but we should have got a Satin Bowerbird to build it – would have been much neater and symmetrical. I agree the blue colour is a distraction and an inaccuracy. Perhaps a grey/brown with a blue base to signify the decorations the bird does?

PS: After mating the female goes off to build a nest and raise the young alone. The male stays near the bower to mate with other females.
A waste of money that could have been better spent – even on fixing the public loos. And driving out of Neerim South it’s partly hidden by the trees. At least the trees don’t look out of place.
