DAIRY Cropping Australia director and former Jindi Cheese MD Andrew Ronalds has been chosen to replace retiring Liberal MP Philip Davis in the Victorian upper house seat of Eastern Victoria.
A high flyer in the Victorian Liberal party, Mr Ronalds has served on the party’s administrative committee and has previously attempted to become a candidate for other seats.

He will replace long-serving MP Philip Davis, who cited imminent electoral boundary changes as the reason for ending his 21-year Victorian political career.
“This is the appropriate time to transition to a new member, which will assist in the renewal of the state parliamentary Liberal Party and parliamentary representation in Eastern Victoria,” Mr Davis said in a media release.
Mr Ronalds raised eyebrows in 2006 when he appeared in the Bracks Labor government’s “Building a World-Class Victoria” advertising campaign in the lead up to the state election.

The Eastern Victoria region covers all of south eastern Victoria, including the lower house state seat of Narracan.
Labor Eastern Victoria MP Matt Viney has previously announced he will also retire after suffering a stroke earlier this year.
