Councillors meet annually to elect a mayor and deputy mayor. A mayor represents councillors at major events, is a key spokesperson and has the deciding vote in hung motions at meetings.

For the first two years of the present council’s term Mount Worth ward councillor Murray Cook was mayor, while North Ward’s Debbie Brown is mayor at the moment.

A statutory meeting to decide the new mayor and deputy will be held on Wednesday 18 November at 18:00 at the council chambers, Civic Place, Warragul.

A council spokesperson said members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting.
