Free youth art workshops coming to Trafalgar

Over the weekend of Saturday, 21 April and Sunday, 22 April, free workshops are being offered to the young people of Trafalgar and district during the Trafalgar Rotary Art Show.

These workshops are open to all young people aged between 12 and 18 years. There is a maximum of 10 participants for each workshop. There are no costs involved for any of the workshops and all materials required will be provided.


Workshops are listed below. All workshops will be held at the Community Centre, Princes Highway, Trafalgar with the exception of the Photographic workshops which will be held at Trafalgar House, 9 Contingent Street, Trafalgar.

Workshops for Saturday, 21 April:

Photographic workshops:
10.30am-12 noon and 2pm-3.30pm

Drawing/sketching with fine liners:
10.30am-12 noon and 2pm-3.30pm


Jewellery workshops:
10.30am-12 noon.
Learn how to make a memory wire bracelet.

Wire wrapping:
Learn how to wrap wire to make earrings, bangles and pendants.
Note: Minimum age for this workshop is 15 years.

Workshops for Sunday, 22 April:
If you would like to try your hand at something different, then these workshops are for you. The give you an opportunity to learn and develop skills in areas that you may not have heard of or tried.

MANGA workshops:
10.30am-12 noon and 2pm-3.30pm

ZENTANGLES workshops:
10:30am-12 noon and 2 pm-3:30pm
Zentangles are created by beginning with a random line drawing of two or three intersecting lines. This creates spaces that you then fill with patterns and designs. Fill all of the empty spaces with patterns- triangles, circles, squares, swirls, dots, lattice, diamonds, crescents, scrolls, crosses- you have endless choices!

Street Art Banner workshop:
This will be done in conjunction with the Skate Park Festival commencing at 2pm.
The theme for this is Skate Boarding.

These free workshops are facilitated by the Trafalgar Youth Resource Centre, whose auspice is The Rotary Club of Trafalgar.
