THE DROUIN Outdoor Pool was closed today and will remain closed tomorrow after a brawl broke out at the venue on Sunday.
A Baw Baw Shire Council spokesperson told The Warragul Citizen the brawl began after a patron was punched in the pool.

Those in the group involved were aged between 12 and 15 years.
“Lifeguards first pulled the young person who had been punched from the pool and isolated him and later put themselves in danger to ensure the wellbeing of patrons,” the spokesperson said.
“Due to this antisocial and violent behaviour, the pool will be closed today and tomorrow.
“The pool will re-open on Wednesday 9 January for early morning swims and, pending the weather, normal hours.”

The spokesperson said police and ambulance were called to the venue and it is unknown if the offenders are the same as those who caused the pool to close last year.
The spokesperson apologised for the closure on the behalf of the council.
“Council understands that the closure is an inconvenience to the broad community during hot weather, however there needs to be consequences of unacceptable behaviour,” the spokesperson said.
“A zero tolerance approach will continue to be taken on unacceptable behaviour.
“Council [and] the YMCA urges all parents to attend the pool to supervise their children and ensure a safe, family-friendly environment.
why close the pool to the public?? just do not let the children that had antisocial behaviour back in for a month
Why close the pool ? the people involved should be banned !!!! why does everyone else have to pay for what they have done . Make them responsible not the public.
Yes, there does need to be consequences! But to the offenders – not to the innocent kids who behave well, especially in such hot weather. How on earth is closing the pool punishing the offenders???
This happened because of the Council’s wishy washy approach to people who do not seem to understand life does not revolve around them.
Until they name and shame them and ban them from the pool it will keep happening.
I have told the Council this but it seems they are captive to political correctness and are not interested in doing what is right for the residents.
I agree with Roger Marks in regard to naming and shaming the offenders. They will probably think they are hero’s for a short period of time, but hopefully their parents will take some responsibility and ensure the behaviour isn’t repeated.
