Ms Anstis has held the position since July 2010 and her contract is set to expire on 4 July.

A spokesperson for the Baw Baw Shire Council told the Warragul & Baw Baw Citizen the expiry date of the new contract would not be known until after the council meets on 11 February.

In a media release announcing the council’s intention to reappoint Ms Anstis today, Baw Baw mayor Debbie Brown said the council had “enormous faith” in the CEO and her reappointment would allow development projects presently underway to continue smoothly.

“The Council is extremely appreciative of her contribution to Baw Baw, and we want to ensure that our positive and successful working relationship continues in the coming years. We have enormous faith in Helen as CEO and we trust in her ability to manage the organisation, its staff and the many projects currently underway,” Ms Brown said.

“Under Helen’s stewardship, work on the Warragul Leisure Centre redevelopment is finally about to get started. The Warragul Station Precinct is a tangible testament to Helen’s advocacy and commitment to the shire, and work has commenced on the Drouin office refurbishment.

“Helen’s continued oversight of the organisation over the next few years gives us great confidence that not only will these projects be successfully completed, but that the ongoing sustainability of the Council will continue to be a priority.

“The Local Government Act sets out a clear process under which the Council can reappoint its chief executive, and we will adhere to that process openly and responsibly. I have spent countless hours with the other Councillors who make up the CEO review committee to ensure that we have done – and will continue to do – everything to the letter of the law.”

  1. Roger Marks says:

Disappointing that the Council doesn’t see the need to raise more funding for the HACC programme which desperately needs more staff to help especially senior citizens with home care projects.

  2. Well Congratulations Helen I Hope that the reputation of high Rates in Drouin can come down and change the bad reputation of the worst Counsel in Victoria. As this changes people’s mind in buying property in Drouin.
I must say Thank you for the help in fixing our storm water pipe that was left broken by Counsel workers for about 2 years making flooding worse through winter in my area.
