The Kellion Victory Medal is awarded by Diabetes Australia for any Australian who has suffered from diabetes for over 50 years.

Mr Lindsay was one of 23 Victorians to be awarded at a ceremony in the Melbourne Town Hall on Monday, and was the oldest recipient of the award this year.

Mr Lindsay was diagnosed with diabetes at a young age, but never let this stop him from doing what he wanted in life.

Victorian Chief Executive of Diabetes Australia Greg Johnson said in a media release that the award’s recipients were an inspiration to others.

“These people who have lived with diabetes for fifty years or more deserve our absolute respect and admiration. We can learn a lot from their determination and attitude towards life,” Mr Johnson said.
