Commencing as a Cadet Engineer with Warragul Shire Council, Geoff Anderson progressed through the ranks and served as Shire Engineer to two shires, followed by many years as advisor to local government in several Asian countries. Geoff supports local government believing it is the real interface between the people and government, provided the elected Councillors are listening to the people and Council’s staff is really listening to Council.

Geoff grew up in Warragul and was schooled here from kindergarten to Year 12, followed by tertiary education atCaulfieldTechnicalCollege. Geoff left Warragul in the sixties, but maintained links here, with his family returning in 1990.

Geoff engages the community through Lions, chairmanship of the Baw Baw Community Housing Group and as secretary to Baw Baw Shire Ratepayers’ and Citizens’ Association. Geoff serves on the Walhalla Railway Committee of Management and the Walhalla Board of Management. A qualified Civil Engineer and Mining Engineer, Geoff is honorary Mine Manager of the Long Tunnel Tourist Mine.

Geoff is passionate about Warragul and wants the best for the Shire. He despairs at inefficient road maintenance, repetitive use of consultants and staffing blowouts . Geoff is concerned about:

● maintaining aged and disability services with diminishing State support;
● meeting early childhood learning needs once all 4yo’s are required to have 15 hours of preschool per week;
● work opportunities by supporting local business; and
● catering for the needs of a growing Warragul.

Geoff and Rosemary have five adult children and six grandchildren.
