I have been your Councillor for two years, and a lot has been achieved despite floods, landslips, and the leaking Traf landfill. We handled all that as well as outdoor pool upgrades, building walking tracks, soccer and hockey fields and extra kinder spaces. Council’s role in the railway station upgrade and underpass will help transform traffic and parking in Warragul.

I bring a positive, problem-solving approach. I am socially progressive and financially conservative, unlike most current councillors. I pushed to make shopping areas smoke-free but opposed borrowing millions for a new competition pool that wouldn’t meet proven needs for year-round exercise and hydrotherapy. I want better transparency and justification for Council spending, a major overhaul of grants and sponsorships.

I listen to genuine community concerns but won’t preference private interests or noisy minorities. My guiding principle is BEST for MOST – widest community benefit for every $ spent. Good governance needs balance, and that is what I bring to the table.

It is essential that Council continues the services that families rely on. Please don’t let knockers and critics divert all our hard-earned rates to rural roads, or waste them on a big expensive pool. My track record on the library board includes overturning state funding cuts. I attend every audit committee, working towards vastly improved financial accountability, crucial work that must continue.

I am optimistic about the future of Baw Baw and ask for your vote to continue working towards a safer, cleaner, more vibrant and prosperous place to live.
