Murray was born in Trafalgar and now lives in Yarragon with his wife, Tini. Initially, he worked as a Civil Engineer in road construction and then as a Psychologist, specializing in Paediatric Psychology dealing with children with special needs. He is now semi-retired.

Murray served as a Councillor and Shire President for two years at the Shire of Narracan prior to municipal amalgamation. “We were able to deliver lower rates with improved services, stop the costly planned extensions to the Shire offices and make Council more open and accountable to the community.”

He has been a tireless exponent for both the Trafalgar and Yarragon communities having served on numerous committees over the years.

He was an instigator for Trafalgar’s Andrews House Aged Accommodation and the Bendigo Community Bank whilst in Yarragon he advocated for getting the township an ATM, medical centre and a connection to natural gas.

Most importantly, Murray believes his practical experience in road construction, the human services, his successful business career and his extensive local knowledge suit the demands of local government.

Murray says “I look forward to representing the entire Mt. Worth Ward equitably by balancing the needs of both town and rural residents. I will address the high rates through efficient use of staff, attack wasteful practices and attend to the deterioration of our road and drainage network throughout the Shire. I stand by my record for getting things done. I believe it is time to change this Council! ”
