The squandering of ratepayers money has motivated me to run for council in the Drouin Ward of Baw Baw Shire Elections in October.

Born in Warragul, my family have and still are involved in farming, Real Estate, and business development since the 1920s. I have five adult children and 8 grandchildren living in the Shire

Although I live a busy life juggling family and work commitments, I realise the need to take part within our community. I was a past member of the Tarago Water Board, the Drouin Nature Walk committee, secretary of the United Dairy Farmers organisation and currently a foundation member of the Drouin and District Community Bank Board which has now been operating for 10 years. At a time when the major banks were leaving Drouin and the town was looking a little dismal, fellow concerned members of our Drouin Chamber of Commerce, joined together to work out a way of encouraging more interest in Drouin. Thus we formulated and set up the Bendigo Community Bank in Drouin which has in turn benefited many local sporting associations, schools, aged care etc.

Our roads are a priority. Rural living requires safe roads. School children travelling daily share these roads with milk tankers, agricultural machinery etc.

I do feel our Shire needs to return to its main reason of being here and that is to serve the people of Baw Baw Shire. Shire beaurecracy is increasing and therefore creates more demand on finances which must be stopped.
