UPDATE 6PM: Road now reopened in both directions.

A fire has closed the Korumburra-Warragul Road in both directions just south of Warragul.

The incident occurred near Wrights Road, one kilometre south of the road’s intersection with East-West Road.

VicRoads has told The Warragul Citizen the fire was caused by hay bales loaded on a truck igniting, most likely as a result of truck exhaust and heat.

Emergency services are on site and the road is anticipated to be reopened by 5PM today.
