POLICE are hunting a masked man who was one of two people involved in the forced entry and burglary of the Longwarry supermarket on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesperson said in a statement a man aged in his late 20s or early 30s wearing a bright green novelty mask robbed the Kennedy Street supermarket at around 4.30am.

The man was approximately 180cm tall with solid build, short sandy or light brown hair and wore black clothes during the incident.

The spokesperson said another man, believed to be in his 20s, was in the company of the masked man. He was described as being approximately 78cm tall with thin to medium build and was wearing a green hoodie with baseball cap under the hood and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

The spokesperson said police believe a ute was rammed into the building to gain access.

“Police allege a vehicle was driven into the front doors of the supermarket, causing damage which allowed two males entry to the store,” the spokesperson said.

“The vehicle in question is described as a red 2010 Holden VE Ute with registration umber XTW806. The vehicle has a distinctive front end, sports wheels and a hard lid covering the back.

“A second vehicle was seen nearby prior to the burglary. This vehicle is described as an older model Holden Statesman possibly VR or VS model, purple or dark green in colour.

“Police wish to speak to the male pictured as he may be able to assist with their inquiries.”
