TRARALGON line commuters will have access to the new myki electronic ticketing system from tomorrow morning.

The line will be the second in regional Victoria to introduce the system, which has been operating on metropolitan lines for years.

Many paper tickets will be phased out from 24 September when periodical tickets will no longer be sold. Single and return daily paper tickets will however continue to be sold after that date.

Analysis by The Warragul Citizen shows you may pay more or less for your ticket under myki depending on where you are heading to and from, mainly due to the way zoning has changed fare calculation.

Off peak ticket eligibility will also change and passengers using myki will be required to touch on and off to validate their ticket.

The plastic myki cards cost $6 to buy and can be topped up online or at stations. Conductors will be equipped with devices to check ticket validity.

    how does seat reservation work for Myki customers

    @wombat
    Seat reservations are generally only for services that continue past Traralgon. As this portion of the vLine network is not currently served by Myki, you can reserve a seat in the form of a paper ticket as you would currently.

    I’m unsure how it will work once Myki is introduced to Bairnsdale services sorry.
