POLICE are investigating after a woman died in a car crash on Warragul-Korumburra road early this morning.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said the woman’s car was traveling south through Warragul South when it left the road and collided with a tree near Wrights Road some time between 2am and 3am.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The spokesperson said investigators believed the vehicle failed to negotiate a left hand bend before crashing.

The incident brings Victoria’s road toll for 2014 to 106, 12 higher than this time last year.

Last month police commenced a number of state-wide operations aimed at reducing the road toll as part of the Road to Zero campaign.
