THE Palmer United Party has announced a candidate to take on Liberal MP for McMillan Russell Broadbent at the upcoming federal election.

Motor mechanic Matt Sherry will represent the new party, which is led by mining magnate and candidate for the Queensland seat of Fairfax Clive Palmer.

The endorsement, one of several announced last week, brings Mr Palmer closer to his goal of endorsing a candidate for every lower house seat.

In a media release Mr Palmer said the party would interest those “fed up” with the major parties.

“The people of Victoria are not impressed with Labor’s leadership spill and the resurrection of Kevin Rudd and they are fed up with Tony Abbott,” Mr Palmer said.

“The major party duopoly in this country is tired and worn out with policies that reflect poorly on the state of our country and Victorians want another option, they want to join the new alternative, the Palmer United Party.”
