Fulton Hogan Ecodynamics, on behalf of Melbourne Water which manages catchment, is carrying out the works to improve the fish passage through the Drouin West area.

There has been considerable erosion and channel instability through the existing fishway on the Tarago River, particularly at Fisher Road.

Works are underway to improve the fish passage and ensure the current fish condition in the Tarago River is maintained and improved into the future.

These works include widening the existing fish passage, adding rock to provide a consistent grade, and cutting notches into the in-stream log to allow passage. Rocks which have become a barrier to the fish will be removed.

The car park has been closed and temporary fencing installed to ensure public safety while the improvements are carried out.
