WARRAGUL residents have been told a planned burn south of Warragul visible from the other side of town is nothing to fear.

The Baw Baw Shire issued a statement yesterday morning saying the fire at 60 Warragul-Korumburra Road had been registered with the CFA and was due to be lit at 2pm, but remained unlit until some time after 4pm.

“It is estimated that there is 100 cubic metres of fuel – so it will be a substantial blaze,” the statement read.

“There is no need to call the CFA about this fire – the developer has registered the burn with the CFA burn-off line.

“Anybody with respiratory complaints should stay inside with the windows closed wherever possible. It is expected that there will be quite a lot of smoke.”

The fire’s position on top of a hill made it visible from across Warragul last night and this morning.

  2. Since it’s controlled it’s okay for me to say this I suppose.
That looks so cool. But if I’d seen it and the messages hadn’t reached me, I’d probably call in and report it…
