The study found an estimated 6.6 per cent of Traralgon line passengers travelled without a valid ticket or concession card in October last year – 2.1 per cent above the state average of 4.5 per cent.

PTV surveyed the Traralgon, Seymour, Bendigo, Geelong and Ballarat lines as well as metropolitan public transport routes as part of the study.

The state-wide fare evasion average for surveyed train, tram and bus services was 9.4 per cent.

The Geelong line had the lowest estimated fare evasion rate of regional services at 3.1 per cent: 3.5 per cent below the Traralgon line estimate.

This was the first year V/Line services were included in the study.

The next fare evasion survey will be conducted in May.

The Traralgon line from Dandenong at 4.09pm this Wednesday was full, with only standing places left all the way, people got on and of with no one checking fares, some of us pay via the internet, but still?

What do they expect………..?the trains are late, or do not turn up at all.the readout screen on platform gives out wrong information at Southern Cross Station.People are asked to go from normal country platform to another platform back over the crossover ,too bad if you are disabled, you will miss train.Caraiges are deemed unsafe and so people are cramped into other carraiges…this happened several months ago at Southern Cross. Its not the ordinary staff at fault, its the idiots running the service,,,,,,And do not get me onto the TRAM service in the City,,,,,,,another poor quality service.

  3. Declan says:

maybe they should extended the Pakenham line back to Warragul,
