The Victorian Government has announced funding from its West Gippsland EcoTender program has now been awarded to Gippsland landholders, almost two years after they were able to bid.
Landholders in West, Central and South Gippsland were able to bid for their share in the then-$2 million grant pool early in 2010, but the government only announced on Monday that funding from the now-$2.5 million pool has been made available.

The EcoTender grants are designed to improve the biodiversity of the West Gippsland Catchment by providing landholders with funds to improve the health of their lands.
The winning funding bids were those which offered the best value for money in terms of environmental benefit. Projects include weed removal, revegetation and fencing.
The first EcoTender project was conducted in the Corangamite catchment in mid-2008, with the program having started in 2007.
The West Gippsland EcoTender focused on the area from Warragul to Sale and the Great Dividing Range to Wilsons Promontory.
