Phil Cantillon, the Baw Baw Shire’s community assets director of five years, has resigned to take a position at Frankston City.

In his time at Baw Baw, Mr Cantillon has overseen $137 million in Capital Works Program funding. A leaky Trafalgar Tip welcomed him to the role, and he will be leaving having helped kick off the Warragul CBD Streetscape project.

He also recently finished an over-six-month stint as Baw Baw’s acting CEO following the resignation of Helen Anstis.

While the surroundings at Frankston City Council will be different, his job title won’t be; he will take the post of community assets director.

“It has been a real pleasure leading the community assets team, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked so closely with the councillors and all staff at Baw Baw Shire,” Mr Cantillon said in a media release.

“Accepting the director role at Frankston City Council not only represents a great opportunity for me professionally, it is also one that will allow me to spend more time with my family.”

New Baw Baw CEO Alison Leighton said Mr Cantillon “will be sorely missed,” as did mayor Joe Gauci.

“It’s a real shame to see Phil leave the organisation, his dedication and professionalism will be missed,” Cr Gauci said in a media release.

“He has been a great asset to Baw Baw Shire and on behalf of the Councillor group we thank him for his service.”

Phil’s last day at Baw Baw will be Friday 6 October.
