Greens candidate Malcolm McKelvie has told the Warragul & Baw Baw Citizen the electorate is responding well to the Greens and might elect its first first upper house candidate.

“I’ve got a good feeling for the Greens this election,” he said at the Warragul North Primary School booth this afternoon.
“I reckon we’ve got a good chance of getting our upper house candidate elected and increasing our vote in Narracan.
He said he was hoping the party would make up for losses in the overlapping federal seat at last year’s federal election.

“I hope so! I think the feedback from voters this election has been better than previous ones, and I think the Palmer party has proven themselves to be unelectable.”
Asked why in light of that opinion the Palmer United Party had been preferenced higher than the Labor party in the Greens upper house preferences, Malcolm said “I think that’s just party shenanegans rather than a serious endorsement of their policies.”
“Who knows, we’ll wait and see. My impression is that the major parties, Labor and Liberal, putting us down so low on their list just proves that they think we’re a threat so we’re just being strategic.:
