A Baw Baw Shire spokesperson told The Warragul Citizen the large manual pumps were installed a fortnight ago and have “been well received” by the community.

One pump is located at the Tarwin Street entrance of the trail in Warragul, while the second is located in the Drouin Wetlands near Hopetoun Road.

The spokesperson said state funding for the project was a one-off and there will be no more pumps installed on the trail.

The pump technology and implementation was trialled on the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the pumps support two types of bike tyre valves.

The council says the pumps are in place to raise awareness of and to encourage people to get involved in local bike riding.

the pumps are a great idea, however, some drinking taps, seats and shelter along the track would be even better.
8km is a long way to walk/run without a drink or for those meeting in the middle, a seat and cover would be perfect. Is this in the plans

This is great and I’m sure will be utilised by many. I do agree with Paul, please could you install some drinking taps. The only taps are in Drouin and Warragul however they are not easy to fill water bottles. During Summer it is particularly important to hydrate.

  3. Graeme says:

Maybe Jana Living might like to donate to the cause? After all their developments clearly benifit from this wonderful public infrastructure and it would make a fine gesture on their behalf.
