Cloverlea farm tank incident injures nine

warragul police william kulich warragul citizenNINE people were injured in a chemical incident on a Cloverlea farm on Wednesday.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said three men, aged in their late teens, 20s and 50s, were overcome by fumes while cleaning a tank on the Darnum-Allambee Road property just after midday.

The men were airlifted to Melbourne hospitals in a critical condition.

Two police officers and at least four other people were also treated for exposure to the fumes at the scene before being taken to Warragul Hospital.

A Warragul Fire Brigade spokesperson told The Warragul Citizen the incident attracted the attention of the Amsterdam Amstelland Fire Department, which contacted the brigade to discuss what happened in a bid to help prevent similar incidents in farming communities there.

WorkSafe and police will investigate the incident.
