Damaging winds to hit Gippsland tonight, flooding could follow

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning Gippsland residents of possible flooding and damaging winds forecast to reach the region this afternoon.

The Bureau expects winds to average between 75 and 85 kilometres per hour, and reach up to 110 kilometres per hour in higher elevated areas.

The warning is in place for all parts of Gippsland and the North East forecast district.

A flood watch for parts of West and South Gippsland has also been issued.

The Bureau says rainfall from tonight’s forecast storm could see light flooding.

A flood warning has not been issued.
